Graveyards of Chicago



Discover a Chicago That Exists Just Beneath the Surface—About Six Feet Under






I was intrigued. This tiny graveyard in the southwest suburbs was said to be one of the most haunted locations in the country, if not the world, and I now lived within driving distance of it. I had always been fascinated with ghosts, and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity to witness a haunting firsthand. In the autumn of 1995, I set forth to explore the haunted graveyard. I drove nearly two hours, then walked along a path through the woods to the small abandoned cemetery. I thought that, at last, I would see a ghost. My anticipation grew as the cemetery came into sight, my heart pounding. I stepped through a hole in the fence, and then…




… nothing happened. 
I left, disappointed, after less than an hour. 
But I had taken some pictures, at least...
